Barry M. Lewis, located at 205 North Michigan Avenue, Suite 810, in Chicago, IL, 60601, phone (312) 671-0454, is an experienced trial and appellate law attorney concentrating his practice in criminal law and eager to aggressively represent his clients. His law practice on the most serious criminal offenses including murder, other violent crimes, drug offenses, and white-collar crimes, and is available to use his experience in the most serious crimes to handle your defense of any other matter serious to you. An experienced criminal defense attorney can mean the difference between a prison sentence and reduced or dismissed charges. Barry Lewis has made that difference countless times. It is rare for a client of his to go to jail.

Barry M. Lewis is a former Adjunct Professor of Trial Law, Judge Advocate of the Belmont Yacht Club and Chicago Yachting Association. His talents are evidenced by the fact that both the BYC and the CYA have countless attorneys as members, and both chose Barry Lewis as their lawyer. He is also a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.  In 2013, Barry Lewis was honored by the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services for his professional conduct and service with them. He is also a recipient of the 2018 Maternal Mental Health Innovation Award for his legal work in expanding the Post-Conviction Act in Illinois. The post-conviction procedures are a favorite practice of his, giving the convicted a new chance for freedom. The award was for helping get new sentencing hearings for some twenty women, having prepared a brief and testimony before the Illinois Senate Criminal Law Committee, and following through shepherding the law through several potentially fatal pitfalls. It is that fearsome and diligent approach that you want in your lawyer.

His writing skills are first-rate. He has never needed to use an agent to get his articles and books published. This includes “Postpartum Mental Illness: A New Law Offers Hope”, in the Champion (March, 2018); “Four Challenges”, Sail Magazine (January 2011), and McGraw-Hill’s book “Learn To Sail Today. Upcoming works are Rowman-Littlefield’s Advocating For Women With Postpartum Mental Illness: Changing the Law and the National Climate (April 2020) and a chapter in an upcoming book scheduled for publication around the same time by the American Psychiatric Association. Writing skills are especially important in appellate and post-conviction law.

If you have been accused of a crime or have personal injury matters, call this experienced attorney. Barry Lewis works hard to ensure the best possible outcome of your case.
